MARKING A JOYOUS START TO THE TEACHER FORUM

Exploration of a new mobile application is always fascinating. Isn’t it? Our teachers of Moongileri cluster too, put on the exploration hat to enjoy this fascination. But, wait. What did they explore? The answer would bring about a “wow” expression in you. The teachers, who consistently work for better student outcomes did not deviate from this mission in TEACHER FORUM which happened on Jan 8, 2020.

Apps are developed with the intent to make lives easier. Stemming from this thought, 18 teachers from our cluster schools chose to tackle one of the challenging aspects of students’ growth using technology. That one problem, which impacts student’s performance in class and exposure outside is the hold over the ENGLISH language. But, when we combine learning with technology, the process becomes fun and interesting.

Exploring the stories

This is how we came up with exploring Google Bolo, an interactive student-centric app that focuses on improving literacy. 20 out of 40 mins session, spent in engaging with the app turned the entire place into a world of fun combined with knowledge. The teachers engaged with the app holding the lens of their students and not as a teacher. This action highlighted their bonding with their students and their consistent thought and efforts centered around student development.

“Our students know to use mobile so well and they would love this app”, “I am going to get my students to play these games tomorrow in class”. These were few of the statements that filled the room that evening.

The shared pictures are a culmination of the excitement, hope and new learning in the Teacher Forum.
